LAYING A SEWER PIPE ACROSS THE RIVER

Laying of a sewer connection below the bed of an emissary of a lake

About This Project

PROBLEM: laying of a 300 diam funnel pipe below a river, without the possibility of installing temporary protections such as sheet piles or pilings. Lack of geological reports or accurate analyzes and presence of a very heterogeneous littoral situation (silt and gravel)

SOLUTION: organization of the construction site with temporary protections that allowed both the drainage works and the piping work.

  1. Drainage of the basin with pumps in free draft
  2. Excavation and installation of 4 drainage wells diam 800mm inside which pumps have been positioned for a total discharge power of about 6.000 l/ min for each well (total 25.000 l/ min).
  3. Laying the first half of the sewer pipe
  4. Backfilling and relocation of protective embankments in the second half of the river
  5. Excavation of 2 additional drainage wells and water abatement up to the required level also in the second half of the excavation

RESULT: Installation of the pipeline within the established times
