PROBLEM: the customer, on behalf of ENEL, needed to consolidate the structure of a dam containing an old reservoir which had been filled up several years earlier. The operations were carried out in the internal part of the former basin, thus forcing the customer to excavate the accumulated material up to a depth of about 8 meters. There were two problems to be solved: first the lowering of the surface water table to allow excavations, secondly, but of greater importance, there was the need to contain the hydraulic thrust that the groundwater applied to the structure to avoid subsidence or collapses.
SOLUTION: installation of two parallel wellpoint systems with prefilter adjacent to the work, not to hinder the processing
RESULT: lowering of the groundwater up to the required altitude of 4mt
Application: Thrust containment for dam consolidation works
